Thank you all for the outpour of info and support. I knew I couldn't have been the only one...lol. I'm not a code geek myself, but i do know one or two, and I've been honing my skills lately as well lol. As for a release date, that's still WAAAY off at this point unfortunately. At this point I'm just beginning to collect info and compile research, so thanks again for all the input.
As we continue, I'd like to ask everyone a few questions to aide in my quest. First off: What, in your opinion, is the 1 feature a new music player should have that musicmatch had, or even didn't have?
In my opinion, one of the most useful tools included in MMJB is the Supertagging feature. It's INCREDIBLY handy to be able to change file names and info without having to use the rename function in windows a million times.
Let me know your answer! Thanks!

It seems this is a very timely question. Just bought a new laptop and despair that my still-reliable MMJB v10 won't be making the transition from my old desktop, where I've been running it for 11 years. (!)
Everyone mentions the SuperTagging and I agree it's fantastic. But on top of that my favorite feature of MusicMatch is that the library interface functions exactly like a database (and in fact with some digging I found the .mdb file that MMJB is storing all the tag information in!) I love the extreme flexibility with which I can display my library: add/remove as many tag-fields as I want, in any order; name any primary sorting field that I choose; and more tagging fields than I could ever actually use. Perhaps this kind of functionality exists in one of the many other programs folks have mentioned in other threads I've read tonight as potential alternatives to MMJB. But if somebody (you) put out a stable, Windows7-compatible program that worked just like MMJB did, I'd be a buyer for sure. Feel free to e-mail me on that magic day: orobourical@yahoo.com. Thanks!

I'll agree. The super tagging is great.
I also really like the ripping features. MMJB did the best job at ripping CDs in a consistant fashion. The mp3 files it rips is compatable with any player (PC players, ipod, iphone, etc) whereas some mp3 converters I have trouble putting the files on the iphone.
I have missed the database that used to be available so have been entering CD info manually.
The library functions have been very good also. I write software so have built programs that can make playlists pretty easily but the ones by mmjb worked well.
